Training

      Training of the national workers
      takes place in three areas:

  1. In program production. When we've assembled a team to record programs, we train them in every aspect of the work from equipment operation to message content to program strategy. As mentioned in our statement on strategy, programs are checked by other speakers of that language and critiqued. Information is fed back to the recording technician who can then make the appropriate adjustments.
  2. In follow-up of responses to programs. Our team members learn how to follow-up letters that listeners write. Letters may be as simple as someone asking for a Bible or as difficult as a listener writing in with severe emotional problems. They learn how to deal with the initial questions and where to find the resources needed to meet the needs of the respondent.
  3. Sometimes our trained national workers are asked in letters from listeners for help learning how to minister to others in their own culture. This is the third area of training. Excerpts from a recent Egyptian listener's letter typify this. He writes:
"One friend asked me, 'Is there someone to answer why the Bible is authentic?' Then Abu Kathir [one of our program voices] answered him cogently, and added that he was willing to send any materials that cover the issue of Middle Eastern Religion and Christianity. I am keen on learning how to respond to their questions. I want to increase my knowledge. I would appreciate your correspondence."

Our worker was able to supply him with materials, direct answers and even put him directly in contact with knowledgeable individuals right in Egypt who are helping him. This worker continues to correspond with the listener, answering questions. All this will better train him, and others like him, to whom we're ministering, to themselves plant the Church right there in their own lands.
